The Chinese called pietersite the eagle's eye, because of it's blue gleam, or the tempest stone. It is named after Sid Pieters, who discovered it in Namibia in 1962.

It is believed to have positive efects on growth hormones and regulates blood pressure and body temperature. It aids the lungs and eyes.
