Bian Stone or Sibin pumice were historically used in traditional Chinese medicine. They are generally considered to be a precursor of acupuncture, utilizing heated, pointed stones (instead of acupuncture needles) in the treatment of back and neck pain. Bian stones were generated during the Cretaceous period when meteorites impacted the earth and they contain more than 30 trace elements. They are also still used today for hot stone massage.
